19 Aug Spring Summer 17 Collections Launch
SS17 Trend Alert
Who’s excited for Spring Summer 17? I know I am! I was lucky enough to get a guernsey to the David Jones Spring Summer Collection Launch for 2017 to see what’s happening in the the fashion world. Oh my, what an experience! I’m pretty pumped for this season. It’s filled with frills, dots, pretty floral prints and bright bold pieces. All of my favourites!
Honestly I thought AW17 was going to be the season of the year but at the Collections Launch I was pleasantly surprised. Although my wardrobe is full to the brim with all the metallics, studs and embroidery from last season, this season is clearly going to send me broke!
Since starting my blog I never dreamt I’d be invited to a Fashion Event like this. Having meet and greets with Jesinta Franklin has almost become the norm. Still completely gobsmacked that she loved my outfit and nails! (Probably just being nice but I’ll totally take it!) Such a beautiful soul inside and out, so caring. Although I’m still completely winging this blog gig, I feel I’m starting to establish relationships within the Adelaide blogging community and have some presence. It’s amazing to meet so many beautiful inspiring women, following their dreams and achieving their goals. Not listening to the critics and moving forward towards their own greatness. That’s what I love most about these events, learning, growing and making new friends.
The runway show ran like clockwork, hosted by the beautiful Belinda Sloane and natural comedian Chris Kontos, both discussed each item in detail giving us an insight into every design. Some of the keys trends that really stood out for me from this launch were:
Dots! Dots are back!
A couple of the designers are certainly embracing the dot again as you can see in this Thurley ‘Tea Party Mini Dress’ below. The collections were feminine, flowing and effortless. Designer dresses to suit every shape and size. Versatile to go from day to night and to make any women shine from the inside out.
Flow
By flow I mean ruffles, frills and capes and more. All pieces moved elegantly as the models cascaded down the runway. The sort of styles that want you to dance the night away in or twirl in a fields of wildflowers. These were personally my favourite! Flattering to all shapes, nipping and tucking in all the right places. Tailoring to women’s needs, flattering feminine pieces that create a mood.
New Romantics
Majority of the pieces were ‘pretty’.They were filled with gorgeous floral prints, layers of delicate material, and soft feminine colours. Sheer fabrics, feminine shapes and flirty vibes, getting us all in the mood for spring. Blush pinks were definitely dominating throughout the parade. Continuing with the ‘New Romantic’ Trend.
Metallics!!
Oh yeah! Now your talking my language! 80’s vibes are back! Gorgeous metallic gowns creating the mood to party! One stunning piece was the gorgeous Metallic wrap dress from ‘Carla Zampatti‘ it certainly was a show stopper! There were plenty of glam for all to enjoy, ruching, tailored jackets and gorgeous evening gowns too die for! And can we please take a moment to appreciate the shoes.
Red! Red! Red!
My favourite colour! This excited me to no end! Strong bold pieces that standout in a crowd. Colour blocking is definitely here to stay for this season. A ‘Carla Zampatti‘ jumpsuit that stopped the crowd, frilly dresses and flowy maxi’s were the perfect pieces to transition with. All red and all fierce! Statement pieces that stop a room, now that’s what I’m talking about!
David Jones is definitely your one stop shop for all your fashion needs as we transition from AW17 to SS17. Check out all the pieces online and instore, you won’t be disappointed!
