You Were Born To Shine!

My Top 5 Tips on Allowing Your Light to Shine

Have you ever wondered why you were put on this earth, what your purpose is? You do know you are here to shine don’t you….. or do you?

We’re all here for a reason whether we like it or not…. There’s always something inside us all that’s meant to be shared, well that’s my belief anyway. The thing is how do we find out what it is? How do we know where to find it or what it is?

Well I’m here to say the only person that can answer that is YOU!

Cliche I know, frustrating as fuck I know… I’ve been there! I lived it all, I’ve researched it all, I’ve read all the self help book trying to find the answer, I know….. I hear you….. but in all honesty the answer is within YOU! I know you want someone to say your here to ‘help people’ or ‘create an invention’ or ‘speak to the people’ but no one can do that for you…. No one except YOU!

So I’m going to share with you some of my top tips that have helped me shine a little brighter each day…

1. Know What Sets Your Soul on Fire.

Seems pretty simple right?? Well not to a lot of us…. This ones pretty deep… If you really look inside yourself the answers are there. I’m not taking about loving a good wine or your favourite television show. I’m talking about volunteering for the homeless or capturing images that tell a story. Something that feeds your emotions deep inside your soul. For me it’s giving… I love to give. As a family we give to the homeless, we donate to charities, donate our clothes. It sets our souls on fire, deep within. It adds a little spring to our step (selfish I know) but it makes us feel good, like really good. It gives us purpose.

2. Feed Your Happiness

The more you live in a state of happiness the more you allow your purpose to come to furision. It’s that age old story, do what makes you happy! Bring your soul alive, shine on the inside, allow the love to enter your heart. The higher vibes you live with the more open you are to opportunities that arise. Seems easy, right! Pfft! It’s bloody hard work! We all struggle with it often, including myself.  I’m not saying you need to be sunshine and rainbows all the time but be aware what makes you giggle or smile or shine on the inside. It could be as simple as your child’s laughter or a smile from a stranger. Own it, embrace it, be aware of it and enjoy it. Feed your happy vibes and watch your life change.

3. Own It.

Own everything about you…. Own your sadness, own your happiness, own your regrets, own your anger, own it all but learn from it. Know your triggers, sit down and analyse who you truly are and you might learn a thing or too.  You might realise that your a pretty cool individual that has a lot to offer or on the flip side you might learn that you have a lot of work to do, that you need a lot of healing or your totally rocking this lesson called life. Either way, own it and embrace it.

4. Know Your Worth

It’s like that quote “No one is you, that’s your super power!” Boom!  Mic drop…. That’s the shit! So right on so many levels it’s not funny…. The secret is to knowing your worth…. Not everyone is going to get you and that is the reality of life. I’m not going to sugar coat it. Life is harsh. Your not always going to be everyone’s friend, your understand what everyone’s about. I understand that this can be hard for some people to get, I hear it now “We’ll your not the one sitting at home with no mates?” Etc etc….But in all seriousness actions have consequences, I say it to my kids all the time…. If you want friends go out and find them, the world is your oysters, if your an asshole expect anger…. it’s as simple as that. Know your worth, know what you can offer and share it with the world.

5. Believe In Yourself

I know I may sound like I’m repeating myself but it’s true. You’ve got to trust in the process. If you have an uncontrollable urge to do something then you at least owe it to yourself to have a go. It was like me with this blog, out of nowhere I had this urge to share. I remember saying to my girlfriend ‘I think I’m going to start a blog…’ Her answer ‘About fucken time!’ I’ll never forget it…. That best mate inspired me to believe in myself…

Not going to lie, I’ve always been the sort of person to have a crack, failure doesn’t scare me, I’ve never really be fazed by judgement but regret, regret scares the crap out of me! So in that moment I had an element of doubt, I’m dyslexic, computer illiterate, all the excuses came in but she believed so I believed. Know your cheerleaders and ask them. Find that mate that’s honest with you, keeps you in check but rises you up.  But be prepared for the criticism, that’s how we learn. None of us are perfect, we all need to learn, learn to love the criticism, make it your best friend so you can strive forward and believe in yourself.  Have the strength inside to know who you truly are because there’s a fine line between offering criticism and belatedly abusing someone…. Know where you stand.

Well I hope that’s helped you in some way to trust in the universe and begin to believe in yourself. Know you were put on this earth of a reason, you were born to shine. Embrace it, own it, live it and love it.

Keep shining bright beautiful souls.
